well it was bound to happen.... my "resisting change" by keeping OS 9 on my G3 tower will all end in tears, i tell you. On its second go around disk warrior has now been running since 10 pm last nite, and is still not done. this does not bode well. Thankfully *most* of my data is backed up on the 80gb external, but having to give up and wipe the drive and install OS X will be a pain.
plus i'll have to buy a new copy of toast becase 5 won't support the Que firewire cd burner.
*sigh* Time soon, to buy the new machines i think....
*bonk* head on desk. better now than a month from now, i guess...

Date: 2004-08-10 12:45 pm (UTC)I had to switch to 10 a little over a yar ago. It took me a week or two to be comfortable navigating it, but it really is worth the switch. I promise. We can play computers together if you want the "Oh, in OSX you do it this way, and they hide it here" tour. Gave that to a friend a month or two ago and it served her rather well.
And if you get a new copy of Toast, can I snag a burn? I miss my toaster, yes I do...
Other: I LOVE the "claws" pic that DH is using as his icon. Can I have a copy of the file? I keep a collection of "cool pix of friends" and that gets the mantleplace..... :-) Nice job

Date: 2004-08-10 12:54 pm (UTC)garned from having to run a 1st gen OS X server that
required me to go into the command line whenever
we had a power outage.
It works by *MAGIC*!!

Date: 2004-08-10 01:00 pm (UTC)Not that it's any consolation, but I'm still on OS 9, too. I'm not resisting change; I'm just cheap. LOL I'm going to install OS X, really I am, right after I cover all my moving expenses, finish paying off the IRS for last year, make a couple of car repairs . . . It's always something. I have it on good authority that upgrading my G4 Cube won't be so painful, though. Hope to do it soon.
Yes, better now than later, perhaps. Good luck, hon (though new machines are always fun).
