smoky smells...
Mar. 11th, 2007 08:08 pmHappiness is a multi-thousand degree coal fire. And a hammer.
I forget sometimes how much I enjoy messing about with hot metal. This afternoon i made my first visit to the BGOP forge in forever. Truly, I dont think I've been down there since before Kirby died. :::*sigh* & touch the VDG blade on my desk:::
I went there with 3RR for some companiable crafty couples time, helping him with the odd "i need 3 hands" moment, and to fart around and practice my rather rusty hammer skills. Its been almost 10 years since i did this regularly, and almost 2 years since i last did it at all.
The skills of how to set up and manage a coal fire definitely need some work .I havent forgotten *how* the physical techniques work, but the kinesthetic skill of swinging the hammer does take some practice to relearn.
(see new icon of fiddlehead curlicue)
But I managed not to set myself on fire, or hit myself with a hammer. I made an S-hook and the beginnings of a fondue fork. Lo, look upon the fires of creation. :P
Must attempt to mke time in my schedule to do this once or twice a month.
*clang* *clang* *clang*
The smell of buring coal os a good smell.
