well, thats *one* large Item off of my OMGWTFBBQ to-do list.

WE sucessfully bought a new-to-us vehicle last nite. Yay! A loverly 2003 silver honda accord EX, with a *black leather* interior, with all the thing-a-ma-bobs and d00-dads. A little higher in the miles than i ususally like, but the dealer was willing to deal, and i'm happy with the price i got. If its not too crass, i'm gonna 'splain the deal.

13,800, before taxes, etc., which put it less than 1k away from the NADA wholsale of 12,900 and *significantly* lower that their askin' price of 16,999. Out the door for 14,500, *after* taxes and tags. yay!

The trick to this is making a totally lowball first offer (13,400, out the door, inclusive of taxes tags, etc.), then waiting to see their counteroffer. Thier first counteroffer is crucial to telling me how badly they want to sell. you have to just ignore anything they say, all the persuasive bs, and just wait for *them* to counteroffer.

"blah, blablah, dealer does this and that, blah, blah, blah, our investment in the vehicle, blablah, blah, blah, blah, blahblah, *counteroffer*!"

All that violin playing is to try and get you to feel unsure about your initial offer, and make a second, higher offer, *before* they show their hand by making a counteroffer. *g* The lowball, stick to it first offer is the shot across the bow, that says, "I know this game, and how it played."These sorts of tactics are why I usually am taking to the manager within the first 5 minutes of the negotiations.

He made a counter offer of 14200ish, out the door for 15,200ish. I did the math, subtracted that bullshite "dealer prep" fee, and a little more, and counter-counteroffered at 14,500 out the door. which he took. (readily enough that, I probably *could* have counter countered a little lower, if I'd wanted to nickel and dime it to death for another 200-300 bucks)

and totally avoid all the "protection pacakges" they offer at he end, all of those are just profit points for the dealer. *G*

YaY us! Now, its what to do with the old VW.... (no trade in deal worth entertaining)
off to yoga!

get tattoo! *G* saturday afternoon will be dedicated to making my transition from un-tattooed person to tattooed person. After dithering for the better part of 10 years.

the image will be the Ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, done in abstract celtic spirals on my left deltoid. Still dithering over whether to do it in solid black or solid blue... argh argh argh. J & T are both coming with me for support/hand-holding!

so when you see me next, I'll be *different*! Yay!

(if i like the experience enough, the next one will be the image you see in my icon.)

Yay!

No faire for m this weekend, (boo) because i must make progress on the project of doooom. *pout*
