*Smooch*
A long weekend spent in the car and various places in NC. It partly felt like the World Tour Of North Carolina. *G*
Drove down friday morning and afternoon in the on-again, off-again rain. Arrived in Burlington in time to pass thru the hotel and check in, before continuing on to High Point to have latelatelunch or earlyearlydinner with the handsome and erudite
ghostrider65. Lovely long chatty time spent in good company. I recived good advice and some amusing tales for my first foray into the land of "native folk dances". (We were there long enough they stopped bringing us soda.) And amusing to watch
ghostrider65 and
3ravensringo actually *wrestle* over the bill. *G*
Big hugs all around before we scatter'd into the driving rain.
Oh! and I saw the spiffy new truck! *G* cool!
Drove the 30 min back to Burlington anddrsagged our keerap up to our room. I left some messages asking after plans for later then spent a quiet hour or two napping, and reading up on assorted esoterica, before prepping to join various memebers of the bridal party on the "cultural field trip" to see "native folk dances." (
3ravensringo had declined to come along, due to needing his beauty sleep after the day's driving)
The evening's entertainment was indeed entertaining. *G* I'll leave out any description beyond the fact that I now am the proud owner of a men's dress shirt with the establishment's logo on it. In a size too small to be worn in *public*.
Staggered back in to the hotel at a mostly umentionable hour. *yawn* Crashed well past 8 am before arising throw on clothes and drive up the road to Biscutville for brekkie. (If i'm going to sin with carbs... I want something *good!*) Then back to the hotel to shower and otherwise make ready for the wedding. *G* We had to be all ready by noon...because we wern't staying in the hotel that nite... but moving on to Charlotte.
So we kiled the 2 hours between checkout and the ceremony by driving around scouting out both the church and reception locations, and pausing for a lite lunch in what appeared to be the only establishment in downtown Burlington open on saturday morning. *G*
I won't even attempt to list everyone there, as I'd be all day about it. *G* The Ceremony was beautiful and affecting.
macdobhran looked handsome and ever so slightly nervous in his fabulous duds.
cellymcfae was absolutely stunning in her gorgeous white dress. And they came pretty close to using the *same readings* that
3ravensringo & I used in our wedding. (two lines up or down in the Song of Solomon) Lovely. *smooches* Much Happiness.
(Even tho we did end up in the "Short Pew" *SillyG*)
The reception was elegant and filled with wonderful folks I dont get to see often enough. I also don't often have a wedding proposal happen essentially an arms length away. (congrats to them!) The "sheep-shaped" red velevet grooms cake was as tasty as it was cute and oddly disturbing. ("I'll have a little lamb, please.") the disturbing aspect probably wasn't helped by the fact that neither R nor I could resist the temptation to "Baaaaaa" mournfully when it was cut up for serving. *G*
And brie so tasty even i, the non-brie-eater... ate it and liked it. *G* The wedding cake was also both pretty and yummy. And much remark was made of the DJ,
snarkymarcy's and
bonkoif's Ipod. Nice job with the music. *applause*.
Alas, over all too soon as we ran out to blow (bubbles at) the Bride and Groom as they departed ...
Then into the car and off to Charlotte. We got there around 7:30ish. Checked in to Hotel Otter. Got up to the room and suffered a PMS hormonal crash so bad, that I was pretty much useless for anything but distracting myself by watching VH-1's "100 Most Metal Moments for 2 solid hours until I passed out asleep. (i hate my hormones)
Sleep like the dead then get up and got to faire. Get to faire early enogh the we spent some time hanging around out front. Ran into some MDRF pals we had forgtten would be there, and the fine folks of the Alabama Contingent, who I've not seen in eons! And then, resplendent in purple,
johnbroadfoot and
beatrizwench. Yay!
Its late, so i wont spend huge amounts of time giving you a play by play of our faire day.
suffice it to say we had a nice time, we shopped and socialized and wandered about. I was pleased as punch to run into
cheezerweav. I pinky swore
anonymisty into coming up to visit MDRF.
So many people I saw all too briefly this weekend, that I wish I could see more of.
***big squashy hugs******
(and special happy wishes for long love and good fortune to the Happy Couple. *smooch*)
